Introduction
The word सुभाषित means, a good saying. सुभाषिताs are called as सूक्ति and सदुक्ति etc. In Sanskrit language many सुभाषिताs are available in the kavyas. Their study increase our knowledge. They increase the. knowledge and skill of our daily affairs and show the good path of life.
पीठिका
‘सुभाषितम्’ इत्यस्य अर्थः सूक्तिः, सदुक्तिः इति। संस्कृत साहित्ये सुभाषितानि विशिष्टकाव्यप्रकारत्वेन परिगणितानि। सुभाषितानि व्यवहारचातुर्य बोधयन्ति सन्मार्गम् उपदिशन्ति च ।

Education occupies a significant position in our life. Education does not divide with the relatives and the brothers, it will not take (stolen) by the thief. Even though by giving others (spending) it will remain the same. Therefore education is the best of all the possessions.
Like the rivers does not consume the water themselves, like the trees do not wish to eat the fruits of their own like the clouds do not wish to eat the corn and grains. In the same way, the wealth of the virtuous men always spend selflessly by them for the welfare of others.
As the clouds give (the) sweet water by consuming (the) salt Water (from the earth). Like this, noblemen speaks sweetly with others by receiving harsh words from the wicked men. So doing service to others is the nature of the great men.
The sun and the moon, Agni (Lord of fire) and Vaayu (lord of air), sky, earth, aapa (water), mind, heart, Lord Yama, day and night, sandhya (both morning and evening) and dharma (charity) – all these observing and witnessing the activities of a person. (through i.e under all circumstances).
Happiness and (sadness), unhappiness is not given by anyone, because it is based on their past work. In the same way, one should leave up pride or haughtiness (because one’s past work follows the doer).
Some people exhibit acting very well in their own person (field), while others show greater skill in imparting that art to another. He who excels in both these qualities deserves a pre-eminent place among teachers.
In this world, wise men were not well-wishers. Well-wishers were not wise men indeed. Therefore, it is difficult to find a person one who is wise and also a well-wisher, because it is a difficult option (find) the medicine which is sweet and at the same time which is good also.
The company of good people takes away the dullness of mind, showers truth in the speech, keeps (him) away from bad activities, keeps (him) clear of thoughts with kindness, so company of goodmen gives (a person) whatever he ask including auspiciousness (मङ्गलम्)

सारांशः
1. न चोरहार्यं न च राजहार्यम्
न भ्रातृभाज्यं न च भारकारी ।
व्ययेकृते वर्धत एव नित्यम्
विद्याधनम् सर्वधनप्रधानम् ।।
2. पिबन्ति नद्यः स्वयमेव नाम्भः
स्वयं न खादन्ति फलानि वृक्षाः ।
नादन्ति सस्यं खलु वारिवाहाः
परोपकाराय सतां विभूतयः ।।
3. क्षारं जलं वारिमुचः पिबन्ति
तदेव कृत्वा मधुरं वमन्ति ।
सन्तस्तथा दुर्जनदर्वचांसि ।
पीत्वा च सूक्तानि समुद्रिन्ति ।
4. आदित्यचन्द्रावनलानिलो च
द्यौर्भमिरापो हृदयं यमश्च ।
अहश्य राप्रश्य उभे च सन्ध्ये
धर्मश्च जानाति नरस्य वृत्तम् ।
5. सुखस्या दुःखस्य न कोऽपि दाता
परो ददातीति कुबुद्धिरेषा
अहं करोमीति वृथाभिमानः
स्वकर्मसूत्रग्रथितो हि लोकः ।।
6. श्लिष्टा क्रिया कस्यचिदात्मसंस्था
सङ्क्रान्तिरन्यस्य विशेषयुक्ता ।
यस्योभयं साधु स शिक्षकाणां
धुरिप्रतिष्ठापयितव्य एव ।।
7. मनीषिणः सन्ति न ते हितैषिणः
हितैषिणः सन्ति न ते मनीषिणः ।
सुहृच्य विद्वानपि दुर्लभो नृणां
यथौषधं स्वादु हितं च दुर्लभम् ।।
8. दूरीकरोति कुमतिं विमलीकरोति
चेतश्चिरन्तनमघं चुलुकीकरोति ।
भूतेषु किं च करुणां बहुलीकरोति
सङ्गः सतां किमु न मङ्गलमातनोति ।।
